1. Healthcare – Insurance companies have done the American public a dis-service by breaking everything down into risk pools. The smaller the pool the more it costs. Insurance companies have done this to make more and more profit at the expense of the policy holders. If the insurance companies did away with the small risk pool and lumped everyone into a single pool the aggregate cost would lower insurance across the board. They would have to try to earn your business by becoming more efficient. Hospital waste – sure its good business if you force a heart patient to buy a 60 pump nitro spray and use it 2 pumps and throw it away, but that does not make it the right thing to do? Who wins? the Hospital and the pharmaceutical industry. Who looses we do higher healthcare cost and higher insurance. What the health insurance industry should be doing is working with healthcare providers to uncover waste and fraud.
Medicare / Medicaid – instead of hiring 17000 IRS agent hire them to find the Billions of dollars in fraud that the government is just not willing to find.
Social Security – Do away with the cap on how much you pay in. Most people do not know this but any income over a certain point is not charged Social Security Tax. Someone who makes 1 million a year pays the same Social Security at Someone who make $120,00 a year not a cent more.
